Ukraine, Turkey discuss response to challenges in Black Sea region – Zelensky

Ukraine and Turkey have discussed security issues and their joint response to challenges in the Black Sea region, and the views of Kyiv and Ankara are the same both on the threats themselves and on how to respond appropriately to those threats, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has said.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between our states. The range of issues and the intensity of our bilateral dialogue show that this partnership does not exist in words but is really backed by real deeds and real victories. I am confident that all agreements that we reached today will succeed. First of all, we thoroughly discussed security issues and our joint response to challenges in the Black Sea region. It is worth noting that the visions of Kyiv and Ankara coincide both in terms of the threats themselves and in terms of ways to respond to these threats,” Zelensky said.

According to him, Turkey’s support for restoring Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is important.

“I was happy to hear from Mr. President the words of the continuation of such important support and the invariability of Turkey’s position in the future,” Zelensky said.

He also noted that he had informed President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including human rights violations on the peninsula.
